Well, the big date is almost upon us. February 21st, 2012 will see the release of our second full-length, It’s Going To Be A Nice Day. We will be hosting a release show on Friday, February 24th at The Loft in Poughkeepsie, NY. We’ll be joined by friends Sleep Bellum Sonno, Abel, Winter Wars, Winterlong, and Endure. This show is already near 100% sold out and will most likely be the only time we perform the album in its entirety. There are a lot of surprises in store for that night and we will be very excited to see you all there. A pre-order for the album and other goodies will be up shortly.
In the meantime, you can check out our Spring 2012 Tour dates. We are very excited to hit the road for a couple of weeks. If we’re not coming through your city and you would like to see us this Summer, drop us a suggestion on our Facebook page: www.facebook.com/takeonecar.

It’s been over three years since we recorded When The Ceiling Meets The Floor, and countless things have changed. So many people have come and so many people have gone. We’ve all lost some things we swore we couldn’t live without, and despite the hardships, found new things to cherish. We knew what we wanted as band back then, but we fumbled to find it. Matching our sound to the picture in our head took some time and refining. It wasn’t done on our own either. We are blessed to be surrounded by people who care about art…and even more, care about us. Too often this feels like a selfish pursuit; So many hands are in it, and only four of us get the return. We do want to thank you all for being so patient throughout this process. We have put everything into making this record something we’re proud of, and to have rushed it, at any point, would have been unfair to us and you.
‘Dear Ronnie’ was one of the first songs we wrote for the new album, and although it’s not “so new” to us and some of you, it still felt like a good first release. The video for ‘Dear Ronnie’ was shot in October at The World Peace Prayer Society in Amenia, NY, by Kevin Irish & Enrique Veliz from BSP Video. They’ve done an amazing job.
Here are the lyrics to ‘Dear Ronnie’:
…And I said, “My heart, My heart ain’t stronger than this.” “My heart, My heart ain’t stronger than this.” As we stood in the winter’s cold And you sold everything that we had in our little home
And I oh I I I, oh I I I, yes I am not fine And I oh I I I, oh I I I, yes I am not fine
…And I am not gold, Sweet God I am not silver I am only some skipping stone, picked up by a passerby And clumsly cast in a river
Why was I, oh why’d I have to be Born into this sedentary carcass Fastened here for what it seems will be…a lifetime
My once tender shoots are now brittle roots Despite my demand, I will end where I began So all you men with axes, You children keen to flame Come burn me into ashes, Come carve me with your names
(Oh what glorious day when we depart) (Look around, we’re just counting years) And the great pine said to the mighty oak, “Why can’t I sleep through this season with you, Cause I can’t runaway, and I wish not to stay. I’d sever my roots and kill off my brood Just to leave my mother’s embrace Oh great mighty oak, how I wish not to stay.”
There will be plenty more to come, hopefully this will hold you over for a bit.
